My Missionary Scripture D&C 68:6

Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the Living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come.

SOME THOUGHTS & FEELINGS ABOUT MY OMMIE & HEAVENLY FATHER'S PLAN OF HAPPINESS

Dearest Family!!

President asked me to write a letter to you all my thoughts and feelings about the Plan of Salvation ~ The Plan of Happiness.  Our Heavenly Father is so merciful to have created a plan of us to potentially return to His presence and to have the opportunity to live with those we love so much for eternity.  I know with all my heart that we will all see her again.  As it says in Doctrine & Covenants 130:2 We will have the "Same Sociality" that we do here. And if you look in the footnotes, it clarifies that it's taking specifically about families.  The only thing that is different is that it will be "coupled with eternal glory" which we don't know how.

Today I actually had a spiritual experience about Ommie and some of my angels on the other side of the veil that is so sacred I cannot share it will all of you but it was such a tender experience - it brought tears to my eyes!!  I know that our loved ones are near -  the Lord is so merciful  to let me have this experience - I know we will see all of our loved ones again some day!!

Margarethe Johanna Ida Thomsen Zimmermann ~ 2016

Also some thoughts and feelings about my Ommie.  As I know we are all very aware, Ommie had some of that German Sass and Spunk running through her veins!!  That's not all she had though.  I can't think of a time when I ever got away without a hug and a kiss on the cheek.  We always felt loved.  She was one of the most recent pioneers in our family.

Though she never walked across the plains, she did bring her family across the ocean to make a better life for them.  Little did she know that her sacrifice would effect generations to come.  We know she endured unspeakable things and made unreal sacrifices that we will never fully understand.  But she did it for all of us, for her posterity.

We can now worship &  live how we please.  She has caused blessings to be brought to generations and generations to come.  I'm so grateful for her and her sacrifices!!  We are all so blessed to have her as our Ommie and be able to be with her forever!!  I hope we all can appreciate her more!!

Hello-hello Family & Friends!

Wow.. I'm glad Ommie is now at peace! She suffered for so long! Thanks for the email. It made me sad because I love my Ommie-om. But she is so much happier now that she is free. It was good to hear that you all got to see her before she headed back home. 😊 I'm glad we saw her before I left!!

Ich Liebe Dich OMMIE!!

President called us Saturday night but we were already in bed. But I talked to him yesterday and he told me that daddy called him. So he said he wanted me to take an hour on Wednesday and just think about her and write down my thoughts and send it to ya. 🙂 so there will be a letter coming probs at the end of the week. All of you guys have been in my prayers.

BAHHH!!!! OUR HOUSE IS NOT VACANT!!!!! 😫😫😫 we will figure that out... I did get Beaner's letter though.. So that's weird!! (we called the post office and the issue has been resolved!!)

I hope Daddy and Duck had a fantastic birthday this week!! Did duck get my letter? It was a funny one! Hahaha 😂
Welp... Guess who has more bug stories.. THIS SISTA!!  haha! So..Sister Seely found another cockroach and she couldn't kill it because she hates them. So she told me to kill it but I CANNOT do cochroaches.. As we have established several times... They are a million times worse than spiders!!
But I tried... I got the vacuum and a chair because it was on the top shelf. So I turned it in and got all pumped to suck it up. I even sang a slightly apostate song to get pumped.. ☹️ Then I got up on the chair but I couldn't do it - and I just stood there screaming "I can't do it!!" holding the vacuum hose... I am pathetic.. Sister Seely was screaming at me to do it but I couldn't.. Finally she had to come and take the hose from me then she did it herself and I screamed even louder.. Hahaha I'm a wreck... Haha, the neighbors probably thought someone was getting murdered.. Always an adventure! 😫

Well! This week was pretty rough until Saturday then for some reason it just keep getting better! Studies were amazing! I studied Charity and man... I have a lot of work to do in that department... Good thing the Atonement is real! 😊

But the real highlight of the week was when we met with Sister Bingham and her husband. We had tried to see her so many times but we either missed them, they didn't have time, or Sister Bingham wasn't home. Finally we caught her and she let us in. So we just chatted for a little bit then she really opened up and made us a smoothie thing, which was TO DIE FOR!!! And she gave us these delicious rosemary chips and really just let us into her life. She loves making cards. They are amazing cards and she sells them on Etsy. So she showed us that and we talked about her kids and her grandkids. It was great!!

Then after an hour of just getting to know her, we sat down and had a little lesson. Oh man!! It was AMAZING! So we showed her the Because of Him video and stuff. She said she really enjoyed it. We asked her when she has felt Christ's love for her. She said that she didn't know... She said that she had forgotten Him for so long that she hadn't felt it for a long long time. It kinda broke my heart.. I could see that in her eyes and that she had lost that light. So I asked her how she could get that love back in her life. And she was like "Oh honey I know, I know..." She had tears in her eyes and kind of lost it a little. Long story short, we just invited her to church and told her that Heavenly Father and the Savior need her back. That there might be someone only she is able to touch.

Sister Seely and I both told her we loved her and wanted to see her at church and so did the ward members. So I asked her if she would make it a priority and come to church. And she said she wouldn't promise but she said maybe, haha! Then yesterday we called her in the morning like we had arranged and after 10 years of being less active, she said she was coming!!! We were SOOO happy!! O my goodness!!! AHH!! I just love her so much! She came and she enjoyed it and the ward was so welcoming!! She didn't even sit by us because the ward just welcomed her and asked her to sit by them. It was great!!! She did only stay for sacrament meeting but we were just happy that she made it at all!! Before she left she asked us, "so when are coming over this week?" Haha!! Apparently she likes us! 😉 HAH! What's not to like... 😅 but we planned lunch and a lesson with her this week and she's making us FRIED CHICKEN!!!!!! I'm so stoked... 😊AHH!! It was amazing! #TenderMercy #Blessed!

Then we met with another less active who is trying to come back. She actually reached out to us which never happens... Her name is Sister Jones. She's this short, spunky lady! So in studies I felt like we should talk about the Plan of Salvation. Then when we got there the first question she asked was something about the spirit world and my jaw just kinda hit the floor... Haha. I love inspiration!!! It was just really cool! So we talked with her and helped her to understand Gods plan for her. It's always great to see the Spirit work and help people understand the gospel! I love being a missionary.  Oh! She is taking us to lunch this week too!! 🤗
So we read "The Fourth Missionary" sometimes this is a quote that I LOVED!!

"Do you see that only in losing yourself, may you find yourself; only by enriching others, may you be enriched; only by giving may you receive; only in surrendering may you become free?"

Man!! Seriously though I have come to see and appreciate the truth of that!!

So this week didn't meet with anybody on date.... Bummer I know! Almost every person we had a time set with bailed... It was a rough week...  We did see Ron though because we just showed up. We kind of had a lesson standing outside in the 110 degree heat.. THEN! We had peaches that Carol gave to us. (The lowdown of her will come hereafter) but we popped the trunk to get the peaches and Sister Seely was talking to Ron and put down the keys in the trunk and then shut it without realizing it.... So. We chilled out there for a few more minutes while Ron tried to somehow break in .. Never happened.. But!! We got a ride up to Los Mo (where the Ward BBQ was being held) with his wife Bonnie who is not a member!! So that was good. Long story short, again!! We got our car back because somebody has AAA!! So yeah.. That's some of the adventures of the missionary!

Now for Carol!! We met her and she was telling about this guy in our ward who She had "the hots" for in high school!! Hahaha!!! She's like the 65 year old lady! So funny! Then it as so funny!! So we went there yesterday to change the time of our visit today and we talked to her for a second and then she's like "well I better get to the restroom before I mess my pants" and then just shut the door before we could say anything.. Hahaha!!!! Quite the experience! 😂😂😂 Alrighty!! Well!

So -We are going hiking! So! I'll shoot y'all some pictures later! Love you guys!! Have an amazing week!!
Love ya!!

HAPPY PIONEER DAY ~ PRESIDENT & SISTER MARSTON

Dear Missionaries:

Happy Pioneer Day!

July 24, 2016 commemorates the 169th year since the Mormon pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley ending their 1,300 mile journey from Nauvoo, Illinois to the Great Basin in what is now Utah.  These faithful pioneer saints led and prepared the way for many others to follow.  The pioneer emigration for members of the church continued from 1847 to 1869 when the transcontinental railroad was completed.

We might ask ourselves, what motivated them to undertake the long journey to the West?

Many pioneers embarked on their journey in countries in Europe and included months on board ships and then travel to the mid-west to join companies of Saints going west in wagons, on foot, and pulling handcarts.

Thousands came west having little in the way of worldly possessions, But  trusting in the Lord to see them to their "journey's end."

No matter their mode of travel, the driving force for them was to join the saints and build up Zion. The Spirit of the Lord was upon them and carried them through whatever difficulty or tribulation they faced Their motivation was love for God and for His true Gospel.

On this day we remember these members of the church, some of them our very own progenitors, and we express our gratitude for what they did to lay the foundation of the Church in the Salt Lake Valley and beyond.  Remembering fills us with gratitude and helps us to recognize our responsibility to follow their example to prepare the way for those who will come after us.  Each one of us can leave a legacy for others to follow.  As missionaries, we are doing just that.  Like pioneers, we have come to an unknown place, acting on faith, obeying the words of the prophets, sacrificing worldly interests, and laboring to build up the church.  One day others may look to our legacy and be inspired to make their personal trek into the mission field or to other places where they, too, can contribute to the building up of Zion.

How thankful I am for those who went before in my family.
Grandparents and great-great grandparents on all our family lines were pioneers for us.

Our life is what it is today because of their faith and sacrifice.  It is a legacy to remember and rejoice in.

I hope today, you will reflect on the pioneers in your life, those who prepared the way for you.

Express gratitude for them and record in your journal how you will carry on that legacy in your life.

We love you and pray for you.

 Best regards,
President Michael F. Marston

SUPER MOTIVATING & TRUE!!

Hey-ohh!

Welp. This week was a tiny bit rough.. Hahah We didn't really meet with anyone on date because all of them are kinda bailing on us. But we did have some great things happen. I have this quote hung right in front of me as I study. It says, " you have the Savior of the World on your side. If you seek His help and follow His directions, how can you fail?" That's by Gary E. Stevenson from the April 2014 General Conference. 😊 super awesome quote!!  Another one I have by my desk is "I am a child of God. He, through a living prophet, called me on this mission to succeed, not fail!" BAHH!! I love those.. Super motivating and completely true!! Just because it gets rough and we want to curl up on the side walk and take a nap because 6:30AM is too early and our bodies do not want to go for our morning run, doesn't mean we should curl up on that side walk like a hobo!!! (And yes, I was tempted to do that...) A BUMP ON A LOG GETS NOTHING ACCOMPLISHED!! So... There's your motivation for the week!! 😂😂 hahaha.. That's what kept me going.

And the icing on the cake was yesterday... So at church they have a dinner calendar they send around in Relief Society. It normally doesn't get to Primary or Young Women's so we asked the lady "in charge" of it if we could just run it over there. She said we could - so we did and left it there to go around. So we went back into Relief Society and sat down. Then she comes up to us and asks us to go out in the hall with her then she REEAAMMMED us.. Seriously.. I don't think I've ever been chewed out like that... Keeping the my mouth shut and not letting the SASS bust out was the hardest thing I have ever had to do... It took every fiber of my being.... Man!!

Ok!  We did meet with Carlos. And we had Jesus come since he is now a member!!!! It was AMAZING!!! Ah man. It was awesome to see him in the other side of things!! THEN!! He also took Carlos to the Spanish Ward!! Ah! It makes me so happy.. 😊

But the highlight was seeing Sister Guest stick her head under a hose because it was so hot - HAHAHAH!! It was the most random thing of my life - Love her!! Then how we found our new 'gator! So Sister Guest was driving us home and turned down some random alley. And she saw some grapes hanging over the fence and stopped to admire them. Then she was like Ah!! We need to go beg for those grapes!! So backs back down the alley and pulls up to the house and bangs on the door and told the girl that she was there to beg for grapes. Long story short, the girl welcomed is in and she felt the spirit hard core and it was great!!! She invited us back! Then bailed..... 😫

Also!! Sister Reid's daughter Courtney's boyfriend, Austin has agreed to meet with us!! O man. So we had dinner with them and we showed him the Because of Him video! (You need to watch it right now if you haven't seen it!!!) Sister Seely and I testified of Christ and asked Austin how Christ has helped him. Then I asked him if he wanted to meet with us and he was super excited about it. He said the gospel is just super powerful. He has been coming to church with them for a long time and he said that he has been interested for a long time but didn't really have an in until he met the Reids. But it's so cool! We could have him on date the first lesson I think. He is so ready!! So awesome!!

So. This is something Emily (a member who is my age) shared with us yesterday. It is amazing and it made me cry as I read it. I had actually been thinking about this a lot this last week. What would it be like meeting the Savior face to face... It is too much for my little mind to comprehend. All I know is I want to be embraced and feel what Melvin J. Ballard felt in his sacred account of meeting the Savior in the temple.

"I love to contemplate what it cost our Father in Heaven to give us the gift of His Beloved Son, that worthy Son of our Father, who so loved the world that He laid His life down to redeem the world, to save us and to feed us spiritually while we walk in this life, and prepare us to go and dwell with Him in the eternal worlds. … I recall an experience which I had … , bearing witness to my soul of the reality of [the Savior’s] death, of His Crucifixion, and His Resurrection, that I shall never forget. … I found myself one evening in the dreams of the night in that sacred building, the temple. After a season of prayer and rejoicing I was informed that I should have the privilege of entering into one of those rooms, to meet a glorious personage, and, as I entered the door, I saw, seated on a raised platform, the most glorious being my eyes have ever beheld or that I ever conceived existed in all the eternal worlds. As I approached to be introduced, He arose and stepped towards me with extended arms, and He smiled as He softly spoke my name. If I shall live to be a million years old, I shall never forget that smile. He took me into His arms and kissed me, pressed me to His bosom, and blessed me, until the marrow of my bones seemed to melt! When He had finished, I fell at His feet, and, as I bathed them with my tears and kisses, I saw the prints of the nails in the feet of the Redeemer of the world. The feeling that I had in the presence of Him who hath all things in His hands, to have His love, His affection, and His blessing was such that if I can receive that of which I had but a foretaste, I would give all that I am, all that I ever hope to be, to feel what I then felt! … I see Jesus not now upon the cross. I do not see His brow pierced with thorns nor His hands torn with the nails, but I see Him smiling, with extended arms, saying to us all: “Come unto me!”  (In the Dec. 2014 ensign, titled "I Know That He Lives")

His unreal experience made me think about meeting Him. This lady that we met yesterday was also talking about meeting the Savior. How she said it has stuck with me. She said something like: "I would be so tickled to meet Him and I would just give Him a big, big hug until He tells me that I can stay..." I love that!!!! I can relate, as I'm sure we all can, because who doesn't want to stay with Him. I know that's what I want. We are so blessed to know what we need to do for Him to tell us that we can stay with Him. I think often times I take the gospel for granted. But man. It's so amazing and overwhelming to think about!!

I had another experience with telling someone they are a child of God. Her name was Emily. She is a members granddaughter that came to visit. She's 10 and has almost no exposure to the church. She was asking us what missionaries do and stuff so I told her that missionaries teach people about Jesus. And she was like "oh. I don't believe in Jesus anymore.. He didn't answer my prayer when I asked Him to heal my foot when I sprained it.." So I felt prompted to tell her she is a Daughter of God and that her Heavenly Father loves her so much. And that He doesn't always answer our prayers how we want. She just sat there and Sister Chambers was about to say something and Emily said, "Wait Grandma! I have to think about this for a minute!" You could see the Spirit working in her a little bit. Then she said, "No He's not. He doesn't have time to be ALL of our Fathers.." Then I told her that He does and He wants to be part of our lives and He will always have time for her. Then she just kinda looked at us and was like "Well I'm going over to Tina's house!".. I have noticed as I've been out here that when people feel the Spirit for the first time they get super uncomfortable. That's what happened with her. So we know she felt it.

Like I was saying last week, one of the best ways to bring the Spirit is to testify to Him and of His divinity. The Spirit was really strong. It is always awesome!! But it broke my heart that she felt that way. Everybody needs to know that God is not a mean God. He is our loving Father. If y'all haven't seen the video "Earthly Father, Heavenly Father" you need to go watch it RIGHT NOW!! I love the quote at the end that says something like 'of all the names there are to call God - He has asked us to call Him Father' AHH!! Everybody needs the gospel!! It makes me so sad that people don't know their Savior or their Heavenly Father! I invite all of you to get to know your Father in Heaven and your Savior better than you do now! Seek Him and as the Savior says in D&C 88, "draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you..."

Here is a quote from the Fourth Missionary that all of you should just soak in because it is amazing!! "Do you see that only in losing yourself, may you find yourself; only by enriching others, may you be enriched; only by giving may you receive; only in surrendering may you become free?"-Fourth Missionary

So yeah!! That was this week! It was alright!! Just had its rough patches! I also had interviews with President and I just love him so much!! He is great! He gave me some solid advice that answered prayers!! Also!!! Sister Lequia cut my hair! Shorter than I had hoped... BUT!! I think it looks cute!! And it's nice cuz it's so hot all the time! But yeah!! I'll shoot y'all some pictures! Love y'all!! You guys are ALWAYS in my prayers. Oh!! And momma, transfers are in August. It's pretty hot but I'm good. My foot is still cooperating. Me and Seely have fun! 😄 lots of funny moments!! Welp! Have a good week family & friends!

COVENANTS ARM US WITH POWER!!

Hey crazy bunch!!

This week was kinda not too eventful! But it was great! First things first!! I HATE BUGS!! As you all may or may not have noticed... Especially this week... So!! Let me tell you my stories! So ya know that cockroach we found in our cupboard? Well... We were laying on the floor during nightly planning and out of the corner of my eye I saw this thing crawling on the wall... Well my buggy senses were tingling so I looked over and it was huge!!!!! Well... My huge.. Haha. But Sister Seely got the fly swatter and obliterate that sucker! I am very grateful for her.. Haha. I was a wreck.. Then!! My other bug story... So!! We were just getting ready to leave so I went into my bathroom to brush my teeth and I opened my little toothbrush thing and saw a little black thing wiggling around in there!! So naturally, I screamed and chucked it.. I have terrible aim because my toothbrush landed on the potty scrubber!! And my case thing went behind the potty. I was so upset. STINKIN EARWIGS! But then Sister Seely was, once again, the hero and squished the earwig before it got away! Haha. I thought I had packed 2 toothbrushes but I didn't... So! I used a new attachment thing Sister Seely had for her electric one for a couple days. Thank goodness for that. Haha. Too many bug adventures... HAH!!

This was interesting. So Tom. We have met with him a couple times and he asked us an interesting question.. So I was baring my testimony. Then he just sits there for a second and is like "Ok!! Way out from left field! Is it ever acceptable in any part of life to use psychedelics?" We looked at each other and I nodded at Sister Seely for her to take a whack at it! So she just said "uh.. You mean drugs" hahah!! Then he started talking about mushrooms and how they were used in ancient times... He felt like God put it down here for our use.. We were like uhh. Anything that alters our state of mind and everything is not okay to use for recreation... !!!  Then Paul! He said a similar thing about beer and how it's Gods gift to us.. Not quite..  these are the types of questions we get when we meet people everyday!

I went on exchanges with Sister Cowden! We killed it here in Corning! 😏 it was super fun! We still have like the same thoughts and we kill it when we teach it's so great!! Pictures to come!!

But yeah!! Now for the 'gators! (investigators) Ron came to church!!!!! Woooooo!!!!! He said he really enjoyed it!! And the day before we had a lesson with him and he really learned a lot. He prayed at the end and said he was really grateful to be learning all this and that he hopes to continue to learn! He is just coming right along!! August 14th here we come!!! Woo! So excited for him!

Then we went to see MaryAnn! They are just so funny. Her husband, Gene is a riot! He slams the door in our face all the time but always on a joking way! Which is much appreciated! Haha. But she is also coming along! She still hasn't been to church... Gene's health is super bad as is hers. So it makes it really hard.. But Brother Lequia came with us to give her a blessing and that was great. The spirit is always strong with blessings involved. Super cool!!

Then me and Sister Cowden went to Barbara's.... GAHH!!! I dunno what to do with her... She just refuses to pray...we had a super spiritual lesson with her and testified to her but yeah... Obviously nothing stuck... She called us a couple days ago because she just likes to chat. We asked her if she prayed and she hadn't... She always says that she wants to be where God wants her to be but she just doesn't know where He wants her.... It is THE most frustrating thing I have ever encountered... I just love her so much and want her to find answers but she won't put forth the effort... ☹️ we did take her off date this week...

So Carlos!! We didn't see him this week cuz he is super busy with his landscaping business stuff... So. Just pray for him. Mostly Ron and MaryAnn!

Well. This week I had a really cool experience. So we met this guy named Ernie. He had so many questions about God and where He was and how He is able to be everywhere at once and if He is a man or what. So we taught him that we can talk to God and He will answer us through His spirit. He was just amazed. He had never heard of that concept before. He wondered how the All-Powerful God had time to hear him. We told him we didn't know how it works but we know it does. Then we sang A Child's Prayer to him and he loved it and "felt warm" inside. We told him that it was the Spirit of God. He didn't know if he believed it. But then I felt prompted to tell him that he is a son of God. And that God is his Heavenly Father. He was like "really..?" And I think it really touched his heart. It touched mine too!

Testifying to him of his divinity helped me to remember my own. The Spirit hit me like a brick and brought tears to my eyes. It really felt like Heavenly Father just gave me a big hug. I really felt His love for me and all of His children. If there's one thing that I have found that brings the spirit the most powerfully, it would be telling someone that they are a child of God and He loves them infinitely. Especially when they don't know if they believe in God or not. After that, they will. If not right then, the Spirit will work on them and they will feel that they are a child of God. I think that might be the most important thing we can learn because everything builds off of our belief In our own divine potential.

If we believe we are children of God we act differently towards others and when no one else is around. For me, knowing my potential makes me want to use the Atonement more because that's how I will reach my full potential is through our Savior. We all have the potential to be as He is - Perfect. It's quite a long shot, at least for me. But it's comforting to know that we get points for trying. Anyway. I just wanted to share that because it's powerful. We all need to constantly keep in mind that we are sons and daughters of the Almighty God. And that the All-Powerful Being, who controls the universe and all things that are in it, is our Father. Like Father, Like Children. We just have to work for it. Thank goodness we have our Savior who is like our Father already.

Another insane experience was with Brother Mackintosh. He is one of the most in-tune people I've ever met.. Man. So he has a goal for himself to visit one less active a week. Not to mention his 6 kids, 2 of them have autism, his full time job, his wife, his calling as the young men's president, and everything else that life seems to chuck at him. Which is amazing in and of itself but then you throw in his effectiveness with this goal.

Each one that he has reached out to has been coming to church every week since... We call it the Mackintosh Magic. HAH! I was so blessed to witness him in action. Haha. So this lady Reba is an ex-member. And like 3 people other than me and Sister Seely have had her name come to mind as they have prayed about who to visit. So obviously Heavenly Father has something cookin'. But Bro. Mackintosh decided to set up an appointment with her, her grandson, Wesley and Reba's husband. So we got it set up everybody was good to go. We met up to touch base so we could be on the same page. It was an AMAZING and POWERFUL plan. So we get there and Reba sees us and looks kinda annoyed. So we go in the house while Reba hides in the little art trailer thing she has. her husband tries to get her out but she wasn't 'feelin' a lesson.  So Bro. Mackintosh asks if he can go talk to her. This man is so bold... It blows my mind.. He ends up talking to her and telling her that the Lord needs her back to church and he felt prompted by Him to come share that message with her. She was very blunt and said she made the decision to leave long ago and is not at all interested. So they ended up laughing together at the end and she gave him a couple onions and some other random vegetable that I have never heard of.. Then we thought we would just teach Wesley because he is less active so we figured WHY NOT!! Bro. Mackintosh basically committed him to "come to Sacrament meeting every week for the rest of your life, bar sickness."  And WESLEY SAID YES!!!! Mind blown. He is such a bold and powerful teacher.

Thought of the day!!! 1 Nephi 14:14 "And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory."

Covenants arm us with power! I'm so grateful to Heavenly Father for blessing us with the opportunity to make covenants!!

Love you guys! Your always in my prayers!!
